Let me start off by telling you that this body wash is one of my favorites!
Grapefruit essential oil is a natural stress fighter making it great for uplifting any kind of mood you’re in.
Peppermint essential oil gives off a cooling effect which can calm the body and relieve sore muscles.
Combine grapefruit and peppermint together, and it’s like heaven in a bottle. Seriously, I can’t stop smelling it.
The scent reminds me of the Spring and Summertime. When the grass is green and the lilies are blooming. There’s nothing better than that!
There are three types of natural oils in this recipe.
Coconut oil is one of the most popular moisturizers out there.
Vitamin E oil is very powerful in reducing wrinkles and signs of aging.
I prefer to use apricot oil for most of my DIY body washes due to the fact that it absorbs into skin quickly. Plus it’s good for all skin types.
The two other ingredients are vegetable glycerin and castile soap.
Vegetable glycerin is produced from plant oils such as palm oil, soy, or coconut oil. This ingredient is what produces the bubbles in my Grapefruit Mint Homemade Body Wash Recipe.
Castile soap is a great natural alternative from store bought chemical soaps. It is olive oil based and great for washing away dirt and grime from your body and hair.
I thought it would be fun to have an orangeish pink colored body wash, so I added a few drops of soap colorant to add some pizazz. This step is totally optional.
- 2/3 cup Unscented Castile Soap
- 2 tbsp Fractionated Coconut Oil
- 2 tbsp Vegetable Glycerine
- 1 tbsp Apricot Oil
- 1/2 tbsp Vitamin E Oil
- 15 drops Peppermint Essential Oil
- 25 drops Grapefruit Essential Oil
- 3 drops Pink Soap Colorant (optional)
- 2 drops Orange Soap Colorant (optional)
- Soap Dispenser
- Combine all ingredients in a bowl. I used a glass Pyrex measuring cup.
- Whisk or stir until all ingredients are combined.
- Pour into your soap dispenser.
Shake before using.
Use your Grapefruit Mint Homemade Body Wash in the shower or tub and scrub-adubdub away!
Lather on my Grapefruit Whipped Body Butter after washing off and you’ll be dreaming of grapefruits all day long.
I find myself wanting to take five showers a day with this stuff. It’s that good, my husband has started using it too.
