Homemade Eucalyptus Lip Balm – Amazing Cooling Effect

Hands down eucalyptus essential oil is my favorite oil out there!
To start off, I love the scent. It has a strong mint smell with a hint of honey. Comparable to Vick’s, but even better!
Eucalyptus may not be someone’s cup of tea due to how strong it is, but all the healing properties of this oil is phenomenal.
If eucalyptus isn’t your thing, take a look at my Lemon Lime Lip Balm Recipe for a nice citrus scent.
You’ll see eucalyptus in a number of health and beauty products. Mostly items dealing with skin care such as lotions, salves, and balms.
The oil has antiseptic properties that help treat scrapes, cuts, and insect bites. Also allowing them to heal at a faster paste.
If you have a wound, mix eucalyptus essential oil with a good amount of apple cider vinegar. With a cotton ball dab the affected area.
Since this is a minty oil, there is a nice cooling effect when applied to your lips. Not too strong, but not too faint.
Have you ever tried the chapstick brand, Burt’s Bees? This Homemade Eucalyptus Lip Balm is comparable, being it has some of the same ingredients.
Since this is a eucalyptus lip balm I thought it would be fun to give a green tint to it by adding soap colorant. This does not change your lips green when using. You can leave yours as is or add some color. The choice is yours.
Below I have included free labels that you can download, print, and use for your amazing creations.
- I included 3 different sizes depending on the type of container you plan to use.
- I use these Avery Full Sheet Stickers for all of my handmade health & beauty products.
Ingredients
- 20 g Unrefined Coconut Oil
- 15 g Unrefined Shea Butter
- 10 g Tightly Packed Grated Beeswax or Beeswax Pellets
- 2 tsp Sweet Almond Oil
- 10 drops Eucalyptus Essential Oil
Directions
- In a double boiler, melt the coconut oil, shea butter, beeswax, and sweet almond oil until the mixture becomes a liquid consistency.
- Transfer to a cup that has a pouring spout. It is WAY easier to fill your tubes with this.
- Add 10 drops eucalyptus essential oil depending on how strong you want your lip balm to be.
- With a funnel, slowly pour and fill the lip balm tubes or containers.
- Let your lip balm begin to harden for about 15 to 20 minutes.
With a funnel, slowly pour and fill the lip balm tubes or containers. There really is no ‘neat’ way of doing this. I usually over pour and then the mixture overflows everywhere.
Just clean them up and you’ll be good to go. If you know of an easier way of doing this please let me know!
Let your Homemade Eucalyptus Lip Balm begin to harden for about 15 to 20 minutes.
This recipe filled 2 of my small lip balm containers and 4 lip balm tubes.
Mmmm I can feel the coolness of my lips all while getting an aroma of minty goodness.
